Who you work with

You work with the Underwriter. GetThere runs the pass for it.

The Underwriter

Offers the pass under its own licence, holds all the money, funds every rescue card and pays your share and GetThere's platform fee. Your agreement is with it.

You

An online travel site, or a platform corporates and agencies book on. You show the offer in one or more of three places.

GetThere

The platform: pricing, the Underwriter's checkout, flight tracking, rescue card delivery and support, for a platform fee from the Underwriter. It doesn't issue the pass or fund rescue cards.

The moment

Long delays hit your customers' trips every day

Left to the airline

Passengers queue or wait on hold for whatever flight the airline picks.

They call you

They booked with you, so they call you, and you can only offer the airline's next free seat.

The best moment to offer it

Travellers think about delays when they book with you.

$2B

of flights sold on your site or platform a year

≈80,000

of those trips a year are delayed 3+ hours or cancelled

Example: $2B of flights a year, 4 million bookings at $500 each; 2 in 100 bookings disrupted.

Three ways in

Offer the pass where your customers already are

One quote call prices the plans for the flights being booked. Show them in one place or all three; each has a design you can edit in the admin. Prices include tax for where the customer lives.

1 · IN-LINE

Quote and checkout in your booking flow

  1. Flights picked Your site sends the flight numbers, so the plans are priced before checkout loads.
  2. Plan chosen Basic or Plus sits next to the flights, in your design.
  3. Paid in your checkout A separate payment to the Underwriter, through its card fields in your checkout.
  4. Airline confirms You tell GetThere, and the pass is issued and emailed.

The highest take-up: the customer decides while choosing seats and bags.

  2. One tap It opens the Underwriter's checkout, filled in with what you hold: name, date of birth, address and mobile.
  3. Pass bought They agree to the Underwriter's terms and pay it about 7.5% of the fare. The pass is issued at once.

Nothing to change in your own checkout. Most sites start here.

  3. The Underwriter's checkout The same filled-in checkout. It only accepts booking emails from your site.

Catches customers who skipped the offer at booking, and bookings made on the phone or in a branch.

Your rewards program

Run your own points? Customers earn and spend them on the pass

EARN

Points on every pass

Give back part of your share as points, on the fee before tax. Credit them from the pass bought event, which carries your member id. A cooling-off refund takes them back.

Example: 4 points a dollar on a $37.50 pass is 150 points, from a share of about $7.50.

BURN

A pass voucher paid with points

Members swap points for a pass voucher on your site. It's applied at the Underwriter's checkout, paying all or part (card for the rest). Each voucher used comes off a deposit you hold with GetThere.

Sales tax is charged on the full fee, and the rescue card is the same whichever way they pay.

No program? Nothing changes. Developers: pass events and vouchers are in the API guide.

For travel platforms · company cover

Cover every employee trip, rebooked in your tool and in policy

Corporate booking platforms and the platforms travel agencies run on send each booking's flights as it's made. Travel managers turn the pass on for all trips, or chosen routes and employees, and GetThere bills you one statement a month to add to each company's invoice. Agencies offer a pass per trip in their own branding.

The business case

Six wins for your travel business

Revenue on every booking, at no cost

Half the profit on every pass, paid once its trip is over. Nothing to fund or run.

Fewer disruption calls

Customers get money to rebook within minutes. GetThere answers questions about the pass.

Every rebooking comes back to you

The rescue card works on your site or in your tool only, and its Rebook button opens the trip with every traveller filled in.

A reason to book with you

A rescue within minutes of a delay, under your name. For platforms, a feature travel managers ask for.

Nothing to type twice

The Underwriter's checkout is filled in with what you know, so buying takes a moment.

Award bookings sell too

Customers paying with miles or points get the same offer, priced on what their miles are worth.

Your share comes out of the final profit pool: the 40% left after rescue card money, card costs and GetThere's fee, split half and half between you and the Underwriter, the standard terms on GetThere.

Example figures, not forecasts: $500 average booking; Basic pass fee $37.50 before tax (7.5% of the fare) for a $750 rescue card (here 1.5 times what was paid for the flights); 2 in 100 passes end with a rescue card ($750 × 2% = $15.00 a pass).

Pass fees = flights sold × % of bookings that buy a pass × 7.5% (the fee before tax). The profit pool is 40% of fees, after rescue card money, payment and card costs and GetThere's fee. Assumes a $500 average booking and 2 in 100 passes ending with a rescue card.

Regulatory position

A policy issued and underwritten by the Underwriter under its own licence; GetThere is its platform provider. A 3+ hour delay or cancellation gets a single-use card for new flights with you, never cash.

Held by the Underwriter

Pass fees go into the Underwriter's payment gateway account, in its checkout or its card fields in yours. Nobody else sees payment card data, and you never fund anything.

Only what the checkout needs

Name and email stay with the quote so the pass reaches the customer. Date of birth and address only fill in checkout and are purged when sales close, 30 hours before departure.

Fraud and vendor review

GetThere checks the flight, fare and traveller history before pricing, and again before any rescue card. It shares its security and business-continuity pack up front.
