For underwriters
The Flight Delay Pass sells when the trip is booked and pays in minutes. You issue it under your licence and every fee lands in your account. GetThere runs pricing, payments, fulfilment, flight tracking, claims, customer service and the monthly statement, within your limits.

The opportunity
Travel insurance bundles medical, luggage, cancellation and a small cash sum for delay. The pass does one job: when a flight is cancelled or 3 hours late, the traveller gets money for a new flight within minutes, with no claim to file. It sits beside your travel policy, and only what is spent on the rescue card is paid.
Card issuers and loyalty programs have no booking moment, so they sell no travel insurance today. They offer the pass right after a cardholder or member pays for a flight, miles bookings included.
A travel site makes one Quote API call at confirmation; a card issuer or loyalty program, one Offer API call. Travel agents sell from the dashboard with nothing to build. GetThere runs pricing, checkout, policy documents, flight tracking, rescue cards, support and reports.
Each partner offers your policy to its own customers, under your limits and wording. From checkout on, every page and email is in your brand, sold through the partner.
of pass fees a year from one distribution partner with $2B of airfare
of each fee is expected rescue money, for a 60% gross margin
Example: 4 million $500 bookings; 5 in 100 buy a pass at 7.5% of the fare; 2 in 100 passes end with a rescue card.
End-to-end orchestration
Under your licence and your limits, with your name on the offer, checkout, terms and every email. Every fee goes into your own payment gateway, and rescue cards run on your own card issuer.
Every flight priced on the day it's sold, from its delay record, weather, strikes and airport news, at your margin and inside your limits.
Your gateway, chosen per country, behind every partner's checkout. Sales tax added for the buyer's country, refunds and disputes handled.
Pass, terms version, consents and confirmation email the moment it's paid, in your brand, sold through the partner.
Every active flight checked every few minutes on travel day. A daily check flags any delay without a claim, or a claim without a card.
Flight data opens the claim. A pre-loaded rescue card goes out by WhatsApp and email within minutes. No forms, no adjusters, never cash.
A service dashboard with the shared inbox, every customer's passes and claims, and a complaints register that times each complaint against its deadline.
On the 1st: the platform fee statement, each partner's settlement, tax by country, and a monthly pack with the bordereaux and the complaints count, ready for your finance team. Every payment, refund and rescue card purchase is recorded as it happens, so nothing is invoiced by hand.
Who signs what
The traveller's policy is with you. You sign once with GetThere, once with each distribution partner on a standard form, and GetThere signs platform terms with the partner. You pay both GetThere and the partner from the fees in your account.
GetThere runs pricing, distribution, policy administration, claims and rescue cards for you, as your outsourced provider. It sets the platform fee, a share of each pass fee before tax settled monthly, plus service levels, audit rights, data processing and exit.
The API, the offer on the partner's own app or site, integration work and support. Technology only: no money for selling insurance changes hands under it.
You appoint the partner to offer your policy. One standard form for every partner, with the profit share rate from your dashboard, disclosure, after-sales help, complaints and brand use. A partner that comes through an agency is covered by your one agreement with the agency.
Who holds which risk
Prices each pass from the flight's delay record, trigger and plan size. Screens for weather, strikes, inflated fares, miles bookings and card misuse. Travel site rescue cards work only at that site's merchant IDs, and it checks every rebook link with us.
Limits for every partner, set per partner type: exposure per flight and airport, repeat claimers, rate floor, top risk sold, booking and card size, and when sales stop before departure.
Trigger, plan sizes, who sees the offer and its look. These change the traveller's price, not your margin. Partners can only tighten your limits. Travel sites and platforms keep rebooking on their own site, which the price doesn't yet reflect.
Exposure
A cancellation pays every pass on a flight; a typhoon, every pass through an airport. So you cap total rescue card limits on both, in US dollars, across all partners.
Most rescue card limit your active passes can hold on one flight and date.
Most across all flights in or out of one airport in a day. Each pass counts once per airport.
At quote, at checkout and again, locked, as the pass is made, so two buyers can't both take the last room.
These limits are yours alone: no partner can raise them, and other underwriters' passes never count against yours.
Claims
It's parametric cover. The trigger is set up front: a cancellation, or a delay past the partner's trigger (3 hours by default). Flight data opens the claim and the rescue card goes out in minutes.
A single-use virtual card for airlines and travel agencies only. Never cash.
The traveller rebooks the rest of the trip in one go. Every charge must pass the card's spending controls.
The limit is a ceiling, not a transfer. If the new flight costs less, the rest stays in your account.
If the airline cancels before GetThere starts watching the flight, the fee is refunded and no rescue card is sent.

The business case · an example
of pass fees a year before tax, all paid to you ($375K per $100M of airfare)
passes a year: 5 in 100 of 4 million bookings
a year in the final profit pool after all costs, shared by you and the partner
You hold the whole fee and pay it out in this order, as your contracts say.
Example figures, not forecasts. Basic pass fee $37.50 before tax (7.5% of a $500 fare; percentages are of this fee), $41.25 with 10% sales tax, for a pre-loaded $750 rescue card (1.5 times the fare). $750 × 2 in 100 passes = $15.00 a pass. Tax is added at checkout, never taken from the fee.
Your own numbers
Pass fees = airfare × share buying a pass × 7.5%, split as above. Assumes $500 bookings and 2 in 100 passes ending with a rescue card.
Partner pages show these numbers too, so you start from the same pool.
All costs are paid before the pool is split.
Pass fees depend on total airfare, not the average ticket.
Rolling out to partners
GetThere builds and runs every partner's offer pages, emails, checkout, terms and rescue cards.
Every integration is in the API reference.
Partner pages and email are set up in the GetThere admin. Terms are built from your settings, with you as issuer.
Each partner first runs the full journey in test mode, with simulated delays.
Your exposure, claims and pricing limits apply from the first pass. Partners can tighten them, never loosen them.
With one push or one confirmation-page offer to build, a partner can go live in a week. Bigger builds are done by GetThere's solution architects, on time and materials.
Money and data
You bring the vendor APIs; GetThere integrates them. Fees, top-ups, refunds and disputes stay in your gateway account; rescue cards are issued on yours. GetThere never holds your money, and your keys are encrypted. See the vendors we support and how to connect them.
Buyers type card details into your gateway's own payment page.
Each version of your terms is frozen when it goes live, and each pass records its version.
Every active flight is checked on travel day. A daily check flags any delay without a claim, or claim without a card, to operations.
Data privacy
GetThere processes personal data only for you, as your processor, under a data processing agreement. You decide how long it's kept, your Privacy Notice says so, and the platform purges it on that schedule. See our sub-processors.
Every forwarded booking and every customer record belongs to the underwriter selling where the customer lives. Someone who buys from two underwriters has two separate records, so a purge or a request to see their data touches yours only.
A quote that isn't bought loses its personal details an hour after its price runs out. A pass keeps them for as long as you set after it ends (12 months by default). The record of what was sold and paid stays, without the person in it.
Each period in your Privacy Notice comes from the same settings the purge runs on, so what you tell customers is what happens. Every version of the notice is kept, with the one each pass was sold under.
The terms, the rescue card issuer consent and the WhatsApp opt-in are recorded with their exact wording and time, the same at checkout and on a travel site's own pages.
Flights, prices and outcomes stay without names or booking references, so pricing keeps learning after the personal details are gone.
Customer service sees what was removed and when, on every customer page and report, so nobody goes looking for data that's no longer held.
For your compliance team
GetThere runs a material part of your product, so your regulator will treat it as outsourcing. The platform agreement is drafted for that filing.
Every service GetThere runs for you is listed, with its service level. You stay responsible for the policy, and the agreement says so.
You and your regulator can audit GetThere's records and controls. Your dashboard shows every pass, claim and payment, with a viewer role for your auditors.
GetThere processes data only on your instructions, tells you of any breach, deletes on request and hands your data back when the agreement ends. Every sub-processor is listed, with notice before any change.
If the agreement ends, live passes stay monitored and their claims paid until they expire, and you get a full export of your book. The money and the rescue cards already sit in your own accounts.
